Stat. tit. 11, § 11-27-106","heading":"Acting judge - Alternate judge - Compensation","body":"In the event of disqualification of the judge in a particular\n\ncase, or his absence or inability to act, the mayor of the\n\nmunicipality may appoint some person, qualified as provided in\n\nSection 27-104 of this title, as acting municipal judge of the court\n\nin the place of the judge during his absence or inability to act or\n\nin a case wherein the judge is disqualified; or, in its discretion,\n\nthe municipal governing body may provide by ordinance for the\n\nappointment of an alternate judge of the court, in the same manner\n\nand for the same term as the judge and possessing the qualifications\n\nprescribed by Section 27-104 of this title, who shall sit as acting\n\njudge of the court in case of the absence, inability or\n\ndisqualification of the judge. If both the judge and the alternate\n\njudge are unable to sit, the mayor may appoint an acting judge as\n\nprovided in this section.
