Stat. tit. 11, § 11-27-109","heading":"Clerk of court - Duties","body":"The municipal clerk of any municipality where a municipal court\n\nis established, or a designated deputy shall be the clerk of the\n\nmunicipal court unless the governing body establishes or authorizes\n\na position of chief municipal court officer to serve as court clerk.\n\nThe court clerk shall have authority to carry out the duties of\n\nthe position as required by law; provided, that the person who\n\nserves as court clerk may separately perform other duties for the\n\nmunicipality. The clerk of the court shall:\n\n1. Assist the judge in recording the proceedings of the court,\n\npreparation of writs, processes, or other papers;\n\n2. Administer oaths required in judicial or other proceedings\n\nbefore the court;\n\n3. Be responsible for the entry of all pleadings, processes,\n\nand proceedings in the dockets of the court;\n\n4. Perform such other clerical duties in relation to the\n\nproceedings of the court as the judge shall direct; and\n\n5. Receive and give receipt for and disburse or deliver to the\n\nmunicipal treasurer all fines, forfeitures, fees, deposits, and sums\n\nof money properly payable to the municipal court.
