Stat. tit. 11, § 11-28-103","heading":"Judges and clerks","body":"The city governing body may appoint and fix the compensation of\n\none or more judges of the municipal criminal court of record, as may\n\nbe required, and designate one as a presiding judge. Each judge\n\nshall possess the qualifications now required by law to be possessed\n\nby associate judges of the district court. The city governing body\n\nmay appoint or otherwise provide for appointment of a clerk of the\n\nmunicipal criminal court of record and one or more deputy clerks and\n\nfix their compensation. The judge shall serve for a term of two (2)\n\nyears, expiring on a date fixed by ordinance, and until his\n\nsuccessor is appointed and qualified, unless sooner removed by the\n\nvote of a majority of all members of the governing body for such\n\ncause as is provided by law for the removal of public officers. Any\n\nappointment to fill a vacancy shall be for the unexpired term.\n\nAdded Laws 1977, c. 256, § 28-103, eff.
