Stat. tit. 11, § 11-33-103","heading":"Powers of cities, towns, counties and school districts","body":"Any city, town, school district or county may establish,\n\nprovide, maintain, construct, set apart and conduct, either singly\n\nor jointly in cooperation with one or more of the other governmental\n\nunits specified herein, parks, playgrounds, recreation centers,\n\nathletic fields or grounds, swimming pools, social and community\n\ncenters, and other facilities and activities in public schools,\n\nparks, buildings and facilities now owned or acquired. For such\n\npurposes the governing body of the governmental unit may dedicate\n\nand set apart for use as playgrounds, recreation centers and other\n\nrecreational purposes any lands or buildings, or both, owned or\n\nleased by the governmental unit and not dedicated or devoted to\n\nanother public use. The governmental unit may, in such manner as\n\nmay now or hereafter be authorized or provided by law for the\n\nacquisition of lands or buildings for public purposes by the\n\ngovernmental unit, acquire or lease lands or buildings, or both,\n\nwithin or beyond the corporate limits of the governmental unit for\n\nplaygrounds, recreation centers and other recreational purposes.\n\nWhen the governing body of the governmental unit shall dedicate, set\n\napart, acquire or lease buildings for such purposes, it may on its\n\nown initiative provide for their conduct, equipment and maintenance\n\naccording to the provisions of this subarticle by making an\n\nappropriation from the general revenues of the governmental unit as\n\nfor other current expenses of the governmental unit.
