Stat. tit. 11, § 11-33-105","heading":"Powers of governing body - Creation and powers of","body":"recreation board or commission.\n\nThe governing body of any governmental unit may establish a\n\nsystem of supervised recreation and it may, by resolution or\n\nordinance, vest the power to provide, maintain and conduct\n\nplaygrounds, recreation centers and other recreational facilities\n\nand activities in a board, department or commission as it may\n\ndetermine. Any agency so designated shall have the power to\n\nmaintain and equip playgrounds, recreation centers and the buildings\n\nthereon, and it may, for the purpose of carrying out the provisions\n\nof this subarticle employ play leaders, playground directors,\n\nsupervisors, recreational superintendents, and such other officers\n\nand employees as may be deemed proper.
