Stat. tit. 11, § 11-34-102","heading":"Chief of police - Powers, duties and functions -","body":"Qualifications.\n\nA. The chief of police of a municipality shall be a peace\n\nofficer and shall enforce the municipal ordinances. The chief of\n\npolice of a municipality shall have such other powers, duties and\n\nfunctions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.\n\nB. Any person elected or appointed to the position of chief of\n\npolice of a municipality shall meet the following qualifications:\n\n1. Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age;\n\n2. Be a citizen of the United States;\n\n3. Possess at least a high school diploma or General Education\n\nDiploma (GED);\n\n4. Be certified as a peace officer in this state by the Council\n\non Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET), or meet all\n\nrequirements necessary for CLEET certification and obtain such\n\ncertification within six (6) months of assuming the position of\n\nchief of police or as otherwise allowed by Section 3311 of Title 70\n\nof the Oklahoma Statutes; and\n\n5. Have successfully completed a course of training meeting at\n\nleast the minimal criteria established by the Council on Law\n\nEnforcement Education and Training (CLEET) for police chief\n\nadministration, successfully completed an approved police chief\n\nadministrative school which has been developed by the Oklahoma\n\nAssociation of Chiefs of Police and approved by the Council within\n\ntwelve (12) months of assuming the position of chief of police.\n\nC. 1. Any person who does not meet the qualifications of\n\nparagraph 4 or 5 of subsection B of this section at the time of\n\nelection or appointment to the position of chief of police and who\n\nfails after assuming the position of chief of police to meet such\n\nqualifications within the time required shall have their CLEET\n\ncertification revoked for the purpose of serving as chief and be\n\nremoved from the position.\n\n2. Any person assuming the position of chief of police without\n\nprior CLEET certification who fails to complete an approved course\n\nof training or police chief administration school within the time\n\nrequired shall be precluded from obtaining CLEET certification while\n\nin such position.\n\nD. The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training\n\n(CLEET) shall establish minimal criteria for the qualifications of\n\nparagraph 5 of subsection B of this section relating to a course of\n\ntraining and police chief administration schools and approve all\n\ntraining offered in this state relating to police chief\n\nadministration. The Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police in\n\nconsultation and cooperation with the Council is directed to develop\n\na Police Chief Administrative School consisting of training courses\n\nthat meet at least the minimal criteria established by the Council.\n\nE.
