Beginning January 1, 2016, every municipal police department\n\nshall have adopted policies in place that at a minimum address the\n\nfollowing safety and liability issues, including but not limited to:\n\n1. Search and seizure;\n\n2. Arrest and alternatives to arrest;\n\n3. Strip and body cavity searches;\n\n4. Evidence and property management;\n\n5. Inventories and audits;\n\n6. Use of firearms and use of force;\n\n7. Pursuit driving;\n\n8. Impartial policing/racial profiling;\n\n9. Mental health;\n\n10. Professional conduct of officers;\n\n11. Domestic abuse;\n\n12. Response to missing persons; and\n\n13. Supervision of part-time officers.\n\nB. The Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police shall possess\n\nthe responsibility of conducting compliance reviews for Oklahoma\n\nMunicipal Law Enforcement Agencies. Compliance reviews shall be\n\nconducted upon receipt of a complaint or reasonable cause to believe\n\nthat the agency has failed to comply with safety and liability\n\npolicy requirements.\n\nC. A complaint against a municipality for noncompliance with\n\nthis section shall be submitted in writing to the Oklahoma\n\nAssociation of Chiefs of Police, the Director of CLEET and the\n\nmunicipality pursuant to the provisions of Section 22-103 of Title\n\n11 of the Oklahoma Statutes. Upon notification, the municipality\n\nshall have six (6) months to come into compliance. If the agency\n\nhas not come into compliance after six (6) months, the Oklahoma\n\nAssociation of Chiefs of Police shall notify in writing the chief\n\nelected official of the governing body of the law enforcement\n\nagency, the chief law enforcement officer of the law enforcement\n\nagency, and the liability insurance company of the law enforcement\n\nagency. If after six (6) months a municipality has not reached full\n\ncompliance with the requirements of this section, the Oklahoma\n\nAssociation of Chiefs of Police may request the Director of CLEET\n\nfor an additional six (6) months if it is determined the\n\nmunicipality is substantially attempting to comply with the\n\nrequirements herein.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2ac92a4ada0089a5264b9efd0969839bc6d659dbbd331be17b06e5e140c462a1","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-34-106","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-34-108"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
