Cities and towns are hereby authorized to construct and\n\nprovide parking spaces, curb cuts, ramps and signage for physically\n\ndisabled parking and access for use in conjunction with facilities,\n\nboth public and private, open to the general public. The city or\n\ntown may bear the cost of such construction, or at the option of the\n\ncity or town and the owner of such facilities, share the cost of\n\nsuch construction with the owner of such facilities.\n\nB. Beginning January 1, 2010, the posted signage for every\n\nparking space that is designated and posted as a reserved area for\n\nthe parking of a motor vehicle operated by or transporting a\n\nphysically disabled person shall display sign R7-8, as provided in\n\nthe latest edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices\n\npublished by the Federal Highway Administration of the United States\n\nDepartment of Transportation, which includes the words “RESERVED\n\nPARKING” and the blue and white international symbol of access.\n\nVan-accessible physically disabled reserved parking spaces shall\n\nalso display sign R7-8a immediately below sign R7-8. Municipalities\n\nshall adopt ordinances in compliance with this subsection by January\n\n1, 2010. The provisions of this section shall be considered an\n\naddition to any federal or state law, rule or regulation regarding\n\nthe signage requirements for physically disabled parking spaces and\n\nshall not limit or amend any other applicable laws, rules or\n\nregulations.\n\nC. The blue and white international symbol of access,\n\naccompanied by appropriate language including, but not limited to,\n\n“Handicapped Parking”, “Reserved for Handicapped” and “Permit\n\nRequired-Towing Enforced” may be used in lieu of sign R7-8 if the\n\nsign was erected prior to January 1, 2010.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"a9f204c6706371a66d73003aa5938f657ec74ce8613e3d27b988a2562985186a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-36-101","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-36-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
