Stat. tit. 11, § 11-36-401","heading":"Widening streets - Acquisition of real estate - Payment","body":"of cost.\n\nA municipality may acquire by condemnation, in the manner\n\nprovided by law, or by purchase or gift, the necessary real estate\n\nor interest therein for the purpose of laying out, opening,\n\nextending, widening or straightening any street, boulevard, alley,\n\npark or public square within the municipality. The governing body\n\nmay provide for the payment of the costs of the real estate in\n\naccordance with Sections 36-401 through 36-414 of this title and may\n\npurchase the real estate from the capital outlay account for streets\n\nand alleys.
