Stat. tit. 11, § 11-36-407","heading":"Additional improvements on widened streets - Surface","body":"waters, etc. - Assessment.\n\nThe governing body may grade, pave, macadamize, chat, gravel,\n\nand install necessary manholes, catch basins, inlets, drainage pipe\n\nand sewers with necessary connections therefor, for the purpose of\n\nadequately disposing of the surface water falling upon any street,\n\nalley, boulevard, park or public square which is being improved\n\npursuant to this subarticle. In proceeding with such work of\n\nimprovement, the governing body may contract therefor, levy and\n\ncollect special assessments, and provide for the issuance and\n\npayment of bonds, or tax bills, to pay for the improvements, in\n\naccordance with the provisions of existing law or charter. The area\n\nbenefited by reason of the construction of the improvements shall be\n\nthose lots, pieces and parcels of land abutting and adjacent to the\n\nimprovement, as described in the written statement of the engineer\n\nas benefiting by reason of acquiring, opening, extending, widening\n\nor straightening the street, alley, boulevard, avenue, park or\n\npublic square, and as confirmed by the governing body.
