Stat. tit. 11, § 11-37-127","heading":"Municipalities outside Oklahoma - Purchase of lands for","body":"water in Oklahoma.\n\nAn incorporated municipality of a state adjoining the State of\n\nOklahoma is hereby granted permission, if authorized or empowered by\n\nthe laws of such adjoining state to do so, to acquire by purchase\n\nfrom a private corporation which may be furnishing water to water\n\nusers in the municipality, or which may be furnishing water to the\n\nmunicipality for resale to water users therein, the title to, or\n\nlesser interest in, lands that the private corporation owns in the\n\nState of Oklahoma. The municipality may also acquire any easements\n\nor rights-of-way then owned by such corporation over and across\n\nother lands within the State of Oklahoma necessary for pipelines to\n\nconvey water from a reservoir to a point or points outside the State\n\nof Oklahoma. Such lands, easements and rights-of-way acquired by\n\nthe municipality may be used in connection with, but only used in\n\nconnection with, the establishment, betterment or expansion of a\n\nmunicipally-owned water supply or system; the necessary protection\n\nof the water supply from pollution; or the maintenance and operation\n\nof the municipally-owned water supply or system. The municipality\n\nmay continue to hold lands, easements and rights-of-way so acquired\n\nas long as the same are so used. In order to transfer or convey any\n\nof its interests in Oklahoma lands, the private corporation shall\n\nhave owned the title to, or any lesser interest in, lands within the\n\nState of Oklahoma as of April 25, 1957, upon which is located, in\n\nwhole or in part, a reservoir from which such water or portion\n\nthereof is obtained, which reservoir has been in existence on the\n\nlands for more than one (1) year prior to April 25, 1957, and which\n\nland, or interest therein, has been owned by the corporation for\n\nmore than fifteen (15) years prior to April 25, 1957.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"f3928e1b4ea32c67d939efb8ecf11c808f0c73d62fe10377a852057990147773","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-37-126","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-37-128"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
