Stat. tit. 11, § 11-38-113","heading":"Acquisition of property other than by means of eminent","body":"domain - Payment of taxes - Excess property.\n\nWhenever the municipal governing body shall have determined by\n\nresolution that an area within the municipality is appropriate for\n\nan urban renewal project, then, regardless of whether or not an\n\nurban renewal plan for such area has been approved under the\n\nprovisions of this article, the municipality or the Urban Renewal\n\nAuthority within the municipality may acquire real property at any\n\ntime within such area by means other than the exercise of the power\n\nof eminent domain. In order to qualify for financial assistance\n\nfrom the Federal Government in making such acquisition, and\n\nregardless of any other provisions of the laws of the State of\n\nOklahoma, the municipal governing body may assume the responsibility\n\nto the Federal Government to bear any loss that may arise as a\n\nresult of such acquisition in the event the property so acquired is\n\nnot used for urban renewal purposes because an urban renewal plan\n\nfor the project area is not approved, or is amended to omit any of\n\nthe acquired property, or is abandoned for any reason. It is\n\nfurther provided that in the event of an advance acquisition of any\n\nimproved property as herein provided the Urban Renewal Authority or\n\ngoverning body, as the case may be, acquiring the property shall be\n\nresponsible for and pay any accruing ad valorem taxes becoming due\n\nor owing until such time as the property is incorporated in an\n\napproved urban renewal plan or converted to another public use. Any\n\nproperty so acquired shall be subject to all other provisions of\n\nthis article the same as property otherwise acquired, except that in\n\nthe event the property so acquired is not used for urban renewal\n\npurposes because an urban renewal plan for the project area is not\n\napproved, or is amended to omit any of the acquired property, or is\n\nabandoned for any reason, the property may be disposed of under such\n\nreasonable competitive bidding procedures as the municipal governing\n\nbody shall prescribe, or such property may be converted to any other\n\npublic use.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"a5f2136529ddba0c6ff2bf6bcd73f61822a26d604522af1e1171c384c6d422c6","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-38-112","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-38-114"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
