Stat. tit. 11, § 11-40-102","heading":"Purpose of act","body":"It is declared to be the purpose of the Neighborhood\n\nRedevelopment Act to promote, stimulate, and develop the general and\n\neconomic welfare of this state and its communities and to assist in\n\nthe development and redevelopment of commercial, industrial and\n\nresidential neighborhoods, thus promoting the general welfare of the\n\ncitizens of this state, by authorizing cities and towns to establish\n\nredevelopment trust authorities, and to authorize such authorities\n\nto undertake redevelopment activities within such neighborhoods.\n\nThe powers conferred by the Neighborhood Redevelopment Act are for\n\npublic uses and purposes for which public money may be expended and\n\nthe power of eminent domain exercised. The necessity in the public\n\ninterest for the provisions enacted as the Neighborhood\n\nRedevelopment Act is hereby declared as a matter of legislative\n\ndetermination.
