Stat. tit. 11, § 11-45-103","heading":"Duties and powers of the planning commission -","body":"Employees.\n\nThe planning commission shall prepare from time to time plans\n\nfor the betterment of the municipality as a place of residence or\n\nfor business. It may consider and investigate any subject matter\n\ntending to the development and betterment of the municipality, and\n\nmake recommendations as it may deem advisable concerning the\n\nadoption thereof, to any department of the municipal government, and\n\nfor any purpose make or cause to be made surveys, maps or plans. The\n\ncommission shall have the power and authority to employ engineers,\n\nattorneys, clerks and a secretary, or any other help deemed\n\nnecessary, subject to the approval of the municipal governing body.\n\nThe salaries and compensation of any planning commission employees\n\nshall be fixed by the governing body and shall be paid out of the\n\nmunicipal treasury as other officers and employees.
