Stat. tit. 11, § 11-47-111","heading":"Miscellaneous powers and duties of commission","body":"The commission shall have power to promote public interest in\n\nand understanding of the plan and to that end may publish and\n\ndistribute copies of the plan or of any report and may employ other\n\nmeans of publicity and education as it may determine. Members of\n\nthe commission, when duly authorized by the commission, may attend\n\ncity planning conferences or meetings of city planning institutes or\n\nhearings upon pending city planning legislation, and the council, by\n\nresolution spread upon its minutes, may authorize and pay the\n\nreasonable traveling expenses incident to attendance at authorized\n\nmeetings. The commission from time to time shall recommend to the\n\nappropriate public officials programs for public structures and\n\nimprovements and for the financing thereof. It shall be part of its\n\nduties to consult and advise with public officials and agencies,\n\npublic utility companies, civic, education, professional and other\n\norganizations, and with citizens with relation to the protecting or\n\ncarrying out of the plan. The commission shall have the right to\n\naccept and use gifts for the exercise of its functions. All public\n\nofficials shall furnish the commission, upon request and within a\n\nreasonable time, available information as it may require for its\n\nwork. The commission, its members, officers, and employees, in the\n\nperformance of their functions, may enter upon any land and make\n\nexaminations and surveys and place and maintain necessary monuments\n\nand marks thereon.
