All retired volunteer firefighters who qualify for\n\nretirement shall be entitled to a monthly pension. The monthly\n\npension of a volunteer firefighter shall be in the amount retired\n\nvolunteer firefighters are receiving at the time the volunteer\n\nfirefighter begins to receive a pension for each year of credited\n\nservice not to exceed thirty (30) years. In determining the number\n\nof years of credited service, a fractional year of six (6) months or\n\nmore shall be counted as one (1) full year and a fractional year of\n\nless than six (6) months shall not be counted in such determination.\n\nRetired volunteer firefighters of a municipality shall receive a\n\npension of not less than that which retired volunteer firefighters\n\nof such municipality were receiving on June 30, 1985.\n\nB. A volunteer firefighter who terminates service after\n\ncompleting ten (10) years of credited service, but less than twenty\n\n(20) years of credited service, shall be entitled to receive a\n\nvested benefit commencing on the date the firefighter reaches fifty\n\n(50) years of age or the date the firefighter would have had twenty\n\n(20) years of credited service had the firefighter's service\n\ncontinued uninterrupted, whichever is later. The monthly amount of\n\nsuch retirement benefit shall be the amount being paid to volunteer\n\nfirefighters at the time the member vests multiplied by the number\n\nof years of credited service. Credited service must be established\n\nat the time of the volunteer firefighter's termination. If a\n\nvolunteer firefighter who terminated employment and elected, or was\n\neligible to elect, a vested benefit dies prior to being eligible to\n\nreceive benefits, the volunteer firefighter's beneficiary, as\n\ndefined in paragraph 16 of Section 49-100.1 of this title, shall be\n\nentitled to the volunteer firefighter's normal monthly retirement\n\nbenefit on the date the deceased volunteer firefighter would have\n\nbeen eligible to receive the benefit.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"862d1104b35f76132f939907a3994f6c2ccb1a4125c17ae18b976f1624804065","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-49-100.9","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-49-101.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
