Stat. tit. 11, § 11-49-101.1","heading":"Purchase of credited service","body":"An eligible employer joining the Oklahoma Firefighters Pension\n\nand Retirement System on or after July 1, 2000, may purchase up to\n\nfive (5) years of credited service for each volunteer member of a\n\nvolunteer fire department at the annual contribution rate in effect\n\nas of the date of the purchase, provided verifiable evidence of\n\nactive firefighter service for the purchased years for each\n\nindividual is provided to the System. Even though the participating\n\nmunicipality is exempt from contributions, contributions must be\n\npaid for a volunteer firefighter to receive purchased credited\n\nservice. Payment for purchased credited service must be received by\n\nthe System within six (6) months of the date the eligible employer\n\nbecomes a participating municipality, and may be paid by the\n\nindividual member. Six (6) months from the date the eligible\n\nemployer becomes a participating municipality, any eligible prior\n\ncredited service not purchased shall expire and not be available for\n\ndetermining benefits.
