Stat. tit. 11, § 11-49-116","heading":"Physical performance/agility test and examination –","body":"Retired disabled persons.\n\nA. All candidates being considered for a position of a paid\n\nfirefighter shall pass the required pre-employment offer physical\n\nperformance/agility test based on standards established by the State\n\nBoard; provided that the time between the administration of the\n\nphysical performance/agility test approval for membership in the\n\nSystem by the Executive Director and the candidate’s actual hire\n\ndate by the participating municipality is less than twelve (12)\n\nmonths, provided further that a volunteer firefighter who passes an\n\nagility test at the time he or she is enrolled as a firefighter in a\n\ncombination paid and volunteer fire department shall not be required\n\nto take a second agility test at the time of appointment as a paid\n\nfirefighter in the same fire department. After review of a\n\ncandidate’s physical performance/agility test presented to the\n\nSystem by a participating municipality or its fire department, the\n\nExecutive Director may require that a second physical\n\nperformance/agility test be administered to said candidate by and\n\nunder the supervision of the Executive Director. Successful\n\ncompletion of the second physical performance/agility test shall be\n\nrequired before said candidate’s application for membership in the\n\nSystem can be approved.\n\nB. The State Board shall require that any candidate applying\n\nfor entrance as a member of the System, who has been offered a\n\nposition of a paid firefighter and before entering the employment of\n\na participating municipality as a paid firefighter, must\n\nsuccessfully complete a physical examination, as promulgated by the\n\nadministrative rules established by the State Board, in order to\n\nparticipate and qualify to receive any benefits from the System;\n\nprovided that when the System receives all the information necessary\n\nfor entrance into the System, including written notice from the\n\nSystem’s physician that the candidate has met the minimum medical\n\nrequirements for entrance, the Executive Director shall have the\n\nauthority to approve an entrance date for the candidate no earlier\n\nthan the date all the necessary information for entrance is received\n\nor the actual hire date whichever is later; provided that the time\n\nbetween the administration of the physical examination approval for\n\nmembership in the System by the Executive Director and the\n\ncandidate’s actual hire date by the participating municipality is\n\nless than six (6) months. All candidates shall be of good moral\n\ncharacter, free from deformities, mental or physical conditions,\n\ndisease and alcohol or drug addiction, which would prohibit a\n\ncandidate from performing duties as a firefighter. The State Board\n\nshall have the authority to deny or revoke the membership of a\n\ncandidate submitting false information in such candidate’s\n\nmembership application and shall have final authority in determining\n\neligibility for membership pursuant to the provisions of this\n\narticle. This subsection shall not apply to any person who\n\nterminates employment with a participating municipality as a paid\n\nfirefighter and is reemployed by the participating municipality or\n\nemployed by another participating municipality within six (6) months\n\nof such termination, unless such person was terminated for medical\n\nreasons.\n\nC. Any person retired for disability under this article may be\n\nsummoned before the State Board herein provided for, any time\n\nhereafter, and shall submit himself thereto for examination as to\n\nhis fitness for duty, and shall abide the decision and order of the\n\nState Board with reference thereto; and all members of the fire\n\ndepartment, who may be retired under the provisions of this article,\n\nshall report to some physician designated by the State Board when so\n\nretired, as required by the State Board.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"77c2f3b1d5bdaa0a246d25dd49b517b50124ed6e4b8b160755dc92588b8015f0","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-49-114","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-49-117"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
