A member of the System who terminates employment for the\n\npurpose of performing service as a police officer on a contract\n\nbasis for the United States Department of Defense or for the State\n\nDepartment of the United States in a war zone may purchase not to\n\nexceed one (1) year of service credit for the period of time during\n\nwhich the member performed services for either of such entities, or\n\nany branch of the United States military or other entity operating\n\nunder authority of the Department of Defense or the State\n\nDepartment, by making payment of all required employer and employee\n\ncontributions for the period of service during which the member was\n\nso privately employed.\n\nB. The contributions required by this section shall be paid by\n\nthe member within one (1) year of becoming reemployed by a\n\nparticipating employer of the System.\n\nC.
