Stat. tit. 11, § 11-9-115","heading":"Merger or consolidation of city offices","body":"The governing body may combine, merge, or consolidate by\n\nordinance any of the various offices of city government as it deems\n\nnecessary and convenient for the administration of the affairs or\n\ngovernment of the city. Any consolidation of elected city offices\n\nshall go into effect at the end of the term of office of those\n\nofficers whose offices are consolidated or when a vacancy occurs in\n\none of the offices to be consolidated.
