Stat. tit. 12, § 12-1481","heading":"Occupying claimant entitled to pay for improvements and","body":"taxes.\n\nIn all cases any occupying claimant being in quiet possession of\n\nany lands or tenements for which such person can show a plain and\n\nconnected title in law or equity, derived from the records of some\n\npublic office, or being in quiet possession of and holding the same\n\nby deed, devise, descent, contract, bond, or agreement from and\n\nunder any person claiming title as aforesaid, derived from the\n\nrecords of some public office, or by deed duly authenticated and\n\nrecorded, or being in quiet possession of, and holding the same\n\nunder sale on execution or order of sale against any person claiming\n\ntitle as aforesaid, derived from the records of some public office,\n\nor by deed, duly authenticated and recorded; or being in possession\n\nof and holding any land under any sale for taxes authorized by the\n\nlaws of this state, or any person who has made a bona fide\n\nsettlement and improvement which he still occupies upon any of the\n\nIndian lands lying in this state, or any lands held in trust for the\n\nbenefit of any Indian tribe at the date of such settlement, or which\n\nmay have heretofore been Indian lands, and which were vacant and\n\nunoccupied at the date of such settlement, and where the records of\n\nthe county show no title or claim of any person to said lands at the\n\ntime of such settlement; or any person in quiet possession of any\n\nland claiming title thereto, and holding the same under a sale and\n\nconveyance made by executors, administrators or guardians, or by any\n\nother person in pursuance of any order of court or decree in\n\nchancery where lands are or have been directed to be sold and the\n\npurchaser thereof has obtained title to and possession of the same\n\nwithout any fraud or collusion on his part, shall not be evicted or\n\nthrown out of possession by any person or persons who shall set up\n\nand prove an adverse and better title to said lands until said\n\noccupying claimant or his heirs, shall be paid the full value of all\n\nlasting and valuable improvements made on such lands by such\n\noccupying claimant, or by the person under whom he may hold the same\n\nand all taxes paid thereon by such claimant with interest, as\n\nprovided for the redemption of lands sold for taxes, previous to\n\nreceiving actual notice by the commencement of suit on such adverse\n\nclaim by which eviction may be effected.","path":["OK Code","Title 12"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7cad4940bf3aee74d28757934867d04778eab89cffe2904f9db2f2814dad573a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12-12-1462","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12-12-1482"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
