Stat. tit. 12, § 12-178","heading":"Service on some of several defendants","body":"Where the action is against two or more defendants, and one or\n\nmore shall have been served, but not all of them, the plaintiff may\n\nproceed as follows:\n\nFirst. If the action be against defendants jointly indebted\n\nupon contract, tort, or any other cause of action, he may proceed\n\nagainst the defendants served, unless the court otherwise direct;\n\nand if he recover judgment, it may be entered against all the\n\ndefendants thus jointly indebted, so far only as that it may be\n\nenforced against the joint property of all, and the separate\n\nproperty of the defendants served; and if they are subject to\n\narrest, against the persons of the defendants served.\n\nSecond.
