Sections 11 through 20 of this act shall be known as the\n\n“Choice in Mediation Act”.\n\nB. The Legislature has previously enacted measures designed to\n\ncreate programs for and encourage the use of mediation in resolving\n\ndisputes involving citizens of this state. These measures provide\n\nguidelines and standards for qualifications of mediators and their\n\nuse in resolving disputes. Over the years since the first of these\n\nmeasures was enacted, there has developed a significant number of\n\ntrained and experienced mediators, some of whom work solely in\n\nvolunteer programs under the Dispute Resolution Act and some of whom\n\nprovide mediation services on a “for fee” basis, either solely or in\n\naddition to volunteer work.
