Stat. tit. 12, § 12-1833","heading":"Options to operating a mediation program or referring","body":"matters exclusively to mediators or programs qualified under the\n\nDispute Resolution Act.\n\nNothing in the Choice in Mediation Act shall require any such\n\ncounty, municipality, accredited law school, school district, board,\n\ncommission, department, or agency of this state or its political\n\nsubdivisions to operate a mediation program under the auspices of\n\nthe Dispute Resolution Act or to refer matters for mediation\n\nexclusively to mediators or programs qualified under the Dispute\n\nResolution Act. Instead, any such entity may elect to do one or\n\nmore of the following:\n\n1. Utilize mediators certified under the Dispute Resolution Act\n\nor qualified under the District Court Mediation Act;\n\n2. Specify required training in addition to that required for\n\ncertification under the Dispute Resolution Act or qualification\n\nunder the District Court Mediation Act in order to receive referrals\n\nor disputes for mediation;\n\n3. Maintain a list of qualified mediators to whom it may refer\n\ndisputes for mediation;\n\n4. Contract with the Administrative Office of the Courts to\n\nprovide training for a fee for mediators to whom it may refer\n\ndisputes for mediation;\n\n5. Refer disputes to a center under the Dispute Resolution Act\n\nto be mediated under the rules and procedures applicable to such\n\ncenter;\n\n6. Elect to be treated as a center for all purposes under the\n\nDispute Resolution Act and make appropriate application pursuant to\n\nthe Dispute Resolution Act;\n\n7. Contract with another public agency providing mediation\n\nservices under the Choice in Mediation Act or with a private\n\nindividual, company, or organization, whether for-profit or not-for-\n\nprofit, to provide mediators or mediation training or both, so long\n\nas the contracting entity requires certification of mediators under\n\nthe Dispute Resolution Act, or qualification of mediators under the\n\nDistrict Court Mediation Act, if applicable; or\n\n8.
