Stat. tit. 12, § 12-2020","heading":"Permissive joinder of parties","body":"PERMISSIVE JOINDER OF PARTIES\n\nA. PERMISSIVE JOINDER.\n\n1. All persons may join in one action as plaintiffs if they\n\nassert any right to relief jointly, severally, or in the\n\nalternative:\n\na. in respect of or arising out of the same transaction\n\nor occurrence, or\n\nb. if the claims arise out of a series of transactions or\n\noccurrences and any question of law or fact common to\n\nall these persons will arise in the action, or\n\nc. if the claims are connected with the subject matter of\n\nthe action.\n\n2. All persons may be joined in one action as defendants if\n\nthere is asserted against them jointly, severally, or in the\n\nalternative:\n\na. any right to relief in respect of or arising out of\n\nthe same transaction or occurrence, or\n\nb. if the claims arise out of a series of transactions or\n\noccurrences and any question of law or fact common to\n\nall defendants will arise in the action, or\n\nc. if the claims are connected with the subject matter of\n\nthe action.\n\n3. A plaintiff or defendant need not be interested in obtaining\n\nor defending against all the relief demanded. Judgment may be given\n\nfor one or more of the plaintiffs according to their respective\n\nrights to relief, and against one or more defendants according to\n\ntheir respective liabilities.\n\nB. ACTIONS INVOLVING PROPERTY. In actions to quiet title or\n\nactions to enforce mortgages or other liens, persons who assert an\n\ninterest in the property that is the subject of the action may be\n\njoined although their interest does not arise from the same\n\ntransaction or occurrence. The court may order separate trials to\n\nprevent delay or prejudice.\n\nC. SEPARATE TRIALS. The court may make such orders as will\n\nprevent a party from being embarrassed, delayed, or put to expense\n\nby the inclusion of a party against whom he asserts no claim and who\n\nasserts no claim against him, and may order separate trials or make\n\nother orders to prevent delay or prejudice.
