Stat. tit. 12, § 12-751","heading":"Levy on goods and chattels, then on realty - Sale of lands","body":"subject to liens - Appraisement.\n\nThe officer to whom a writ of execution is delivered, shall\n\nproceed immediately to levy the same upon the goods and chattels of\n\nthe debtor; but if no goods and chattels can be found, the officer\n\nshall endorse on the writ of execution, \"No goods,\" and forthwith\n\nlevy the writ of execution upon the lands and tenements of the\n\ndebtor, which may be liable to satisfy the judgment; and if any of\n\nthe lands and tenements of the debtor which may be liable shall be\n\nencumbered by a mortgage or any other lien or liens, such lands and\n\ntenements may be levied upon and appraised. If the appraisal\n\nreveals any equity in excess of such mortgage or liens, the lands\n\nand tenements may be sold, subject to such mortgage or liens, stated\n\nin the appraisal. If the appraisal reveals no equity, the lands and\n\ntenements of the debtor shall not be sold.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 5156. Amended by Laws 1985, c. 277, § 10, eff.
