Stat. tit. 12, § 12-815","heading":"Return by sheriff of other county - Proof of timely","body":"mailing of return.\n\nWhen execution shall be issued in any county in this state and\n\ndirected to the sheriff of another county, it shall be lawful for\n\nsuch sheriff having the execution, after having discharged all the\n\nduties required of him by law, to inclose such execution, by mail,\n\nto the clerk of the court who issued the same. On proof being made\n\nby such sheriff that the execution was mailed soon enough to have\n\nreached the office where it was issued within the time prescribed by\n\nlaw, the sheriff shall not be liable for any penalty or damages if\n\nit does not reach the office in due time.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 5184.
