Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-1-9-508","heading":"Effectiveness of financing statement if new debtor","body":"becomes bound by security agreement.\n\nEFFECTIVENESS OF FINANCING STATEMENT IF\n\nNEW DEBTOR BECOMES BOUND BY SECURITY AGREEMENT\n\n(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, a filed\n\nfinancing statement naming an original debtor is effective to\n\nperfect a security interest in collateral in which a new debtor has\n\nor acquires rights to the extent that the financing statement would\n\nhave been effective had the original debtor acquired rights in the\n\ncollateral.\n\n(b) If the difference between the name of the original debtor\n\nand that of the new debtor causes a filed financing statement that\n\nis effective under subsection (a) of this section to be seriously\n\nmisleading under Section 1-9-506 of this title:\n\n(1) the financing statement is effective to perfect a security\n\ninterest in collateral acquired by the new debtor before, and within\n\nfour (4) months after, the new debtor becomes bound under subsection\n\n(d) of Section 1-9-203 of this title; and\n\n(2) the financing statement is not effective to perfect a\n\nsecurity interest in collateral acquired by the new debtor more than\n\nfour (4) months after the new debtor becomes bound under subsection\n\n(d) of Section 1-9-203 of this title unless an initial financing\n\nstatement providing the name of the new debtor if filed before the\n\nexpiration of that time.\n\n(c) This section does not apply to collateral for which a filed\n\nfinancing statement remains effective against the new debtor under\n\nsubsection (a) of Section 1-9-507 of this title.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b7333de81dbb586c61ebc66668198db3abc55c05385f7222e036f974de5fb943","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-1-9-507","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-1-9-509"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
