Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-15-112","heading":"Retention of electronic records; originals","body":"RETENTION OF ELECTRONIC RECORDS; ORIGINALS\n\n(a) If a law requires that a record be retained, the\n\nrequirement is satisfied by retaining an electronic record of the\n\ninformation in the record which:\n\n(1) accurately reflects the information set forth in the record\n\nafter it was first generated in its final form as an electronic\n\nrecord or otherwise; and\n\n(2) remains accessible for later reference.\n\n(b) A requirement to retain a record in accordance with\n\nsubsection (a) of this section does not apply to any information the\n\nsole purpose of which is to enable the record to be sent,\n\ncommunicated, or received.\n\n(c) A person may satisfy subsection (a) of this section by\n\nusing the services of another person if the requirements of that\n\nsubsection are satisfied.\n\n(d) If a law requires a record to be presented or retained in\n\nits original form, or provides consequences if the record is not\n\npresented or retained in its original form, that law is satisfied by\n\nan electronic record retained in accordance with subsection (a) of\n\nthis section.\n\n(e) If a law requires retention of a check, that requirement is\n\nsatisfied by retention of an electronic record of the information on\n\nthe front and back of the check in accordance with subsection (a) of\n\nthis section.\n\n(f) A record retained as an electronic record in accordance\n\nwith subsection (a) of this section satisfies a law requiring a\n\nperson to retain a record for evidentiary, audit, or like purposes,\n\nunless a law enacted after the effective date of this act\n\nspecifically prohibits the use of an electronic record for the\n\nspecified purpose.\n\n(g) This section does not preclude a governmental agency of\n\nthis state from specifying additional requirements for the retention\n\nof a record subject to the agency’s jurisdiction.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"56ea6598799a1c467dca1b2a3260c7ad9dd2131cbd5023572dd4a7edeefe87d5","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-15-111","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-15-113"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
