Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-2A-526","heading":"Lessor's stoppage of delivery in transit or otherwise","body":"LESSOR'S STOPPAGE OF DELIVERY IN TRANSIT OR OTHERWISE\n\n(1) A lessor may stop delivery of goods in the possession of a\n\ncarrier or other bailee if the lessor discovers the lessee to be\n\ninsolvent and may stop delivery of carload, truckload, planeload, or\n\nlarger shipments of express or freight if the lessee repudiates or\n\nfails to make a payment due before delivery, whether for rent,\n\nsecurity or otherwise under the lease contract, or for any other\n\nreason the lessor has a right to withhold or take possession of the\n\ngoods.\n\n(2) In pursuing its remedies under subsection (1) of this\n\nsection, the lessor may stop delivery until:\n\n(a) receipt of the goods by the lessee;\n\n(b) acknowledgement to the lessee by any bailee of the goods,\n\nexcept a carrier, that the bailee holds the goods for the lessee; or\n\n(c) such an acknowledgment to the lessee by a carrier via\n\nreshipment or as a warehouse.\n\n(3) (a) To stop delivery, a lessor shall so notify as to\n\nenable the bailee by reasonable diligence to prevent delivery of the\n\ngoods.\n\n(b) After notification, the bailee shall hold and deliver the\n\ngoods according to the directions of the lessor, but the lessor is\n\nliable to the bailee for any ensuing charges or damages.\n\n(c) A carrier who has issued a nonnegotiable bill of lading is\n\nnot obligated to obey a notification to stop received from a person\n\nother than the consignor.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"29eef29b8be31f51b079312bb4d390673ed2ec2197a450caad76d3c870d6fbcd","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-2a-525","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-2a-527"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
