Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-3-109","heading":"Payable to Bearer or to Order","body":"PAYABLE TO BEARER OR TO ORDER\n\n(a) A promise or order is payable to bearer if it:\n\n(1) states that it is payable to bearer or to the order of\n\nbearer or otherwise indicates that the person in\n\npossession of the promise or order is entitled to\n\npayment;\n\n(2) does not state a payee; or\n\n(3) states that it is payable to or to the order of cash\n\nor otherwise indicates that it is not payable to an\n\nidentified person.\n\n(b) A promise or order that is not payable to bearer is payable\n\nto order if it is payable (i) to the order of an identified person\n\nor (ii) to an identified person or order. A promise or order that\n\nis payable to order is payable to the identified person.\n\n(c) An instrument payable to bearer may become payable to an\n\nidentified person if it is specially indorsed pursuant to subsection\n\n(a) of Section 3-205 of this title.
