Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-3-115","heading":"Incomplete Instrument","body":"INCOMPLETE INSTRUMENT\n\n(a) \"Incomplete instrument\" means a signed writing, whether or\n\nnot issued by the signer, the contents of which show at the time of\n\nsigning that it is incomplete but that the signer intended it to be\n\ncompleted by the addition of words or numbers.\n\n(b) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, if an incomplete\n\ninstrument is an instrument under Section 3-104 of this title, it\n\nmay be enforced according to its terms if it is not completed, or\n\naccording to its terms as augmented by completion. If an incomplete\n\ninstrument is not an instrument under Section 3-104 of this title,\n\nbut, after completion, the requirements of Section 3-104 of this\n\ntitle, are met, the instrument may be enforced according to its\n\nterms as augmented by completion.\n\n(c) If words or numbers are added to an incomplete instrument\n\nwithout authority of the signer, there is an alteration of the\n\nincomplete instrument under Section 3-407 of this title.\n\n(d) The burden of establishing that words or numbers were added\n\nto an incomplete instrument without authority of the signer is on\n\nthe person asserting the lack of authority.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6908c8c3f44102b51b5f27cea39f7378f96ff3b58a979aa8dc87178640e1be2f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-3-114","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-3-116"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
