Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-3-201","heading":"Negotiation","body":"NEGOTIATION\n\n(a) \"Negotiation\" means a transfer of possession, whether\n\nvoluntary or involuntary, of an instrument by a person other than\n\nthe issuer to a person who thereby becomes its holder.\n\n(b) Except for negotiation by a remitter, if an instrument is\n\npayable to an identified person, negotiation requires transfer of\n\npossession of the instrument and its indorsement by the holder.
