Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-3-205","heading":"Special Indorsement; Blank Indorsement; Anomalous","body":"Indorsement.\n\nSPECIAL INDORSEMENT; BLANK INDORSEMENT; ANOMALOUS INDORSEMENT\n\n(a) If an indorsement is made by the holder of an instrument,\n\nwhether payable to an identified person or payable to bearer, and\n\nthe indorsement identifies a person to whom it makes the instrument\n\npayable, it is a \"special indorsement\". When specially indorsed, an\n\ninstrument becomes payable to the identified person and may be\n\nnegotiated only by the indorsement of that person. The principles\n\nstated in Section 3-110 of this title apply to special indorsements.\n\n(b) If an indorsement is made by the holder of an instrument\n\nand it is not a special indorsement, it is a \"blank indorsement\".\n\nWhen indorsed in blank, an instrument becomes payable to bearer and\n\nmay be negotiated by transfer of possession alone until specially\n\nindorsed.\n\n(c) The holder may convert a blank indorsement that consists\n\nonly of a signature into a special indorsement by writing, above the\n\nsignature of the indorser, words identifying the person to whom the\n\ninstrument is made payable.\n\n(d) \"Anomalous indorsement\" means an indorsement made by a\n\nperson who is not the holder of the instrument.
