Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-3-501","heading":"Presentment","body":"PRESENTMENT\n\n(a) \"Presentment\" means a demand made by or on behalf of a\n\nperson entitled to enforce an instrument (i) to pay the instrument\n\nmade to the drawee or a party obliged to pay the instrument or, in\n\nthe case of a note or accepted draft payable at a bank, to the bank,\n\nor (ii) to accept a draft made to the drawee.\n\n(b) The following rules are subject to Article 4 of this title,\n\nagreement of the parties, and clearing-house rules and the like:\n\n(1) Presentment may be made at the place of payment of the\n\ninstrument and must be made at the place of payment if\n\nthe instrument is payable at a bank in the United\n\nStates; may be made by any commercially reasonable\n\nmeans, including an oral, written, or electronic\n\ncommunication; is effective when the demand for\n\npayment or acceptance is received by the person to\n\nwhom presentment is made; and is effective if made to\n\nany one of two or more makers, acceptors, drawees, or\n\nother payors;\n\n(2) Upon demand of the person to whom presentment is made,\n\nthe person making presentment must (i) exhibit the\n\ninstrument, (ii) give reasonable identification and,\n\nif presentment is made on behalf of another person,\n\nreasonable evidence of authority to do so, and (iii)\n\nsign a receipt on the instrument for any payment made\n\nor surrender the instrument if full payment is made;\n\n(3) Without dishonoring the instrument, the party to whom\n\npresentment is made may (i) return the instrument for\n\nlack of a necessary indorsement, or (ii) refuse\n\npayment or acceptance for failure of the presentment\n\nto comply with the terms of the instrument, an\n\nagreement of the parties, or other applicable law or\n\nrule; and\n\n(4) The party to whom presentment is made may treat\n\npresentment as occurring on the next business day\n\nafter the day of presentment if the party to whom\n\npresentment is made has established a cutoff hour not\n\nearlier than 2 o'clock p.m. for the receipt and\n\nprocessing of instruments presented for payment or\n\nacceptance and presentment is made after the cutoff\n\nhour.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"28987feed6bb01491fc024ec265783f3bb4757934af52fbff7bfa9fda660509a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-3-420","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-3-502"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
