Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-3-505","heading":"Evidence of Dishonor","body":"EVIDENCE OF DISHONOR\n\n(a) The following are admissible as evidence and create a\n\npresumption of dishonor and of any notice of dishonor stated:\n\n(1) A document regular in form as provided in subsection\n\n(b) of this section which purports to be a protest;\n\n(2) A purported stamp or writing of the drawee, payor\n\nbank, or presenting bank on or accompanying the\n\ninstrument stating that acceptance or payment has been\n\nrefused unless reasons for the refusal are stated and\n\nthe reasons are not consistent with dishonor; and\n\n(3) A book or record of the drawee, payor bank, or\n\ncollecting bank, kept in the usual course of business\n\nwhich shows dishonor, even if there is no evidence of\n\nwho made the entry.\n\n(b) A protest is a certificate of dishonor made by a United\n\nStates consul or vice consul, or a notary public or other person\n\nauthorized to administer oaths by the law of the place where\n\ndishonor occurs. It may be made upon information satisfactory to\n\nthat person. The protest must identify the instrument and certify\n\neither that presentment has been made or, if not made, the reason\n\nwhy it was not made, and that the instrument has been dishonored by\n\nnonacceptance or nonpayment.
