Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-4-303","heading":"When Items Subject to Notice, Stop-Payment Order, Legal","body":"Process, or Setoff; Order in Which Items May be Charged or\n\nCertified.\n\nWHEN ITEMS SUBJECT TO NOTICE, STOP-PAYMENT ORDER,\n\nLEGAL PROCESS, OR SETOFF; ORDER IN WHICH ITEMS\n\nMAY BE CHARGED OR CERTIFIED\n\n(a) Any knowledge, notice, or stop-payment order received by,\n\nlegal process served upon, or setoff exercised by a payor bank comes\n\ntoo late to terminate, suspend, or modify the bank's right or duty\n\nto pay an item or to charge its customer's account for the item if\n\nthe knowledge, notice, stop-payment order, or legal process is\n\nreceived or served and a reasonable time for the bank to act thereon\n\nexpires or the setoff is exercised after the earliest of the\n\nfollowing:\n\n(1) The bank accepts or certifies the item;\n\n(2) The bank pays the item in cash;\n\n(3) The bank settles for the item without having a right\n\nto revoke the settlement under statute,\n\nclearing-house rule, or agreement;\n\n(4) The bank becomes accountable for the amount of the\n\nitem under Section 4-302 of this title dealing with\n\nthe payor bank's responsibility for late return of\n\nitems; or\n\n(5) With respect to checks, a cutoff hour no earlier than\n\none (1) hour after the opening of the next banking day\n\nafter the banking day on which the bank received the\n\ncheck and no later than the close of that next banking\n\nday or, if no cutoff hour is fixed, the close of the\n\nnext banking day after the banking day on which the\n\nbank received the check.\n\n(b) Subject to subsection (a) of this section, items may be\n\naccepted, paid, certified, or charged to the indicated account of\n\nits customer in any order.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"bfff96af1d9ced2c407460819871e8451691da2b4396639ce7be5ac659662ec7","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-4-302","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-4-401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
