Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-7-102","heading":"Definitions and index of definitions","body":"Definitions and Index of Definitions.\n\n(a) In this article, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n(1) \"Bailee\" means a person that by a warehouse receipt, bill\n\nof lading or other document of title acknowledges possession of\n\ngoods and contracts to deliver them.\n\n(2) \"Carrier\" means a person that issues a bill of lading.\n\n(3) \"Consignee\" means a person named in a bill of lading to\n\nwhich or to whose order the bill promises delivery.\n\n(4) \"Consignor\" means the person named in a bill of lading as\n\nthe person from whom the goods have been received for shipment.\n\n(5) \"Delivery order\" means a record that contains an order to\n\ndeliver goods directed to a warehouse, carrier, or other person that\n\nin the ordinary course of business issues warehouse receipts or\n\nbills of lading.\n\n(6) \"Good faith\" means honesty in fact and the observance of\n\nreasonable commercial standards of fair dealing.\n\n(7) \"Goods\" means all things that are treated as movable for\n\nthe purposes of a contract of storage or transportation.\n\n(8) \"Issuer\" means a bailee that issues a document of title or,\n\nin the case of an unaccepted delivery order, the person that orders\n\nthe possessor of goods to deliver. The term includes a person for\n\nwhich an agent or employee purports to act in issuing a document if\n\nthe agent or employee has real or apparent authority to issue\n\ndocuments, even if the issuer did not receive any goods, the goods\n\nwere misdescribed, or in any other respect the agent or employee\n\nviolated the issuer's instructions.\n\n(9) \"Person entitled under the document\" means the holder, in\n\nthe case of a negotiable document of title, or the person to which\n\ndelivery of the goods is to be made by the terms of, or pursuant to\n\ninstructions in a record under, a nonnegotiable document of title.\n\n(10) \"Shipper\" means a person that enters into a contract of\n\ntransportation with a carrier.\n\n(11) \"Warehouse\" means a person engaged in the business of\n\nstoring goods for hire.\n\n(b) Definitions in other articles applying to this article and\n\nthe sections in which they appear are:\n\n(1) \"Contract for sale\", Section 2-106.\n\n(2) \"Lessee in the ordinary course of business\", Section 2A-\n\n103.\n\n(3) \"Receipt\" of goods, Section 2-103.\n\n(c) In addition Article 1 contains general definitions and\n\nprinciples of construction and interpretation applicable throughout\n\nthis article.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"20e1b68748d6f42919a27ab68347dc841330217e5f4940c01fa7ac0d455b6962","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-7-101","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-7-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
