Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-7-302","heading":"Through bills of lading and similar documents of title","body":"Through Bills of Lading and Similar Documents of Title.\n\n(a) The issuer of a through bill of lading, or other document\n\nembodying an undertaking to be performed in part by a person acting\n\nas its agent or by a performing carrier, is liable to any person\n\nentitled to recover on the bill or other document for any breach by\n\nthe other person or the performing carrier of its obligation under\n\nthe bill or document. However, to the extent that the bill or other\n\ndocument covers an undertaking to be performed overseas or in\n\nterritory not contiguous to the continental United States or an\n\nundertaking including matters other than transportation, this\n\nliability for breach by the other person or the performing carrier\n\nmay be varied by agreement of the parties.\n\n(b) If goods covered by a through bill of lading or other\n\ndocument of title embodying an undertaking to be performed in part\n\nby a person other than the issuer are received by that person, the\n\nperson is subject, with respect to its own performance while the\n\ngoods are in its possession, to the obligation of the issuer. The\n\nperson’s obligation is discharged by delivery of the goods to\n\nanother person pursuant to the bill or document and does not include\n\nliability for breach by any other person or by the issuer.\n\n(c) The issuer of a through bill of lading or other document of\n\ntitle described in subsection (a) of this section is entitled to\n\nrecover from the connecting carrier, or other person in possession\n\nof the goods when the breach of the obligation under the bill or\n\nother document occurred:\n\n(1) the amount it may be required to pay to any person entitled\n\nto recover on the bill or other document for the breach, as may be\n\nevidenced by any receipt, judgment, or transcript of judgment; and\n\n(2) the amount of any expense reasonably incurred by the issuer\n\nin defending any action by any person entitled to recover on the\n\nbill or other document for the breach.","path":["OK Code","Title 12A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os12A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"4826ca2a4b3bb2aabaa1a42af477e021c19f2b04b6eae6f51971fd1925e8e5f3","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-7-301","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-12a-12a-7-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
