Stat. tit. 12A, § 12A-7-304","heading":"Bills of lading in a set","body":"Bills of Lading in a Set.\n\n(a) Except as customary in international transportation, a\n\ntangible bill of lading may not be issued in a set of parts. The\n\nissuer is liable for damages caused by violation of this subsection.\n\n(b) If a tangible bill of lading is lawfully issued in a set of\n\nparts, each of which has an identification code and is expressed to\n\nbe valid only if the goods have not been delivered against any other\n\npart, the whole of the parts constitutes one bill.\n\n(c) If a tangible negotiable bill of lading is lawfully issued\n\nin a set of parts and different parts are negotiated to different\n\npersons, the title of the holder to which the first due negotiation\n\nis made prevails as to both the document of title and the goods even\n\nif any later holder may have received the goods from the carrier in\n\ngood faith and discharged the carrier's obligation by surrendering\n\nits part.\n\n(d) A person that negotiates or transfers a single part of a\n\ntangible bill of lading issued in a set is liable to holders of that\n\npart as if it were the whole set.\n\n(e) The bailee shall deliver in accordance with Part 4 of this\n\narticle against the first presented part of a tangible bill of\n\nlading lawfully issued in a set.
