Stat. tit. 13, § 13-177.1","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in Sections 177.1 through 177.5 of this title and\n\nSection 3 of this act:\n\n1. \"Court of competent jurisdiction\" means a court of general\n\ncriminal jurisdiction of this state, including the judges of the\n\ndistrict court, associate district judges and special district\n\njudges, or any justice of the Supreme Court or judge of the Court of\n\nCriminal Appeals or Court of Civil Appeals;\n\n2. \"Electronic communication\" means any transfer of signs,\n\nsignals, writing, images, sounds, data or intelligence of any nature\n\ntransmitted in whole or in part by a wire, radio, electro-magnetic,\n\nphoto-electronic or photo-optical system, but does not include:\n\na. any wire or oral communication,\n\nb. any communication made through a tone-only paging\n\ndevice, or\n\nc. any communication from a tracking device;\n\n3. \"Pen register\" means a device which records or decodes\n\nelectronic or other impulses which identify the numbers dialed or\n\notherwise transmitted on the telephone line to which such device is\n\nattached, but such term does not include any device used by a\n\nprovider or customer of a wire or electronic communication service\n\nfor billing, or recording as an incident to billing, for\n\ncommunications services provided by such provider or any device used\n\nby a provider or customer of a wire communication service for cost\n\naccounting or other like purposes in the ordinary course of its\n\nbusiness;\n\n4. “Tracking device” means an electronic or mechanical device\n\nwhich permits the tracking of the movement of a person or object;\n\n5. \"Trap and trace device\" means a device which captures the\n\nincoming electronic or other impulses which identify the originating\n\nnumber of an instrument or device from which a wire or electronic\n\ncommunication was transmitted, but does not include devices used by\n\nsubscribers to identify the originating numbers of calls received by\n\nsuch subscribers; and\n\n6. \"Wire communication\" means any aural transfer made in whole\n\nor in part through the use of facilities for the transmission of\n\ncommunications by the aid of wire, cable or other like connection\n\nbetween the point of origin and the point of reception, including\n\nthe use of such connection in a switching station furnished or\n\noperated by any person engaged in providing or operating such\n\nfacilities for the transmission of intrastate, interstate or foreign\n\ncommunications or communications affecting intrastate, interstate or\n\nforeign commerce.","path":["OK Code","Title 13"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os13.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b20aa2bbed5890d35accebeb0f7e13b425ce1df878c851a4c94b2effcb692284","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-13-13-176.9","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-13-13-177.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
