Stat. tit. 14A, § 14A-1-102","heading":"Purposes - Rules of construction","body":"(1) This act shall be liberally construed and applied to\n\npromote its underlying purposes and policies.\n\n(2) The underlying purposes and policies of this act are\n\n(a) to simplify, clarify and modernize the law governing\n\nretail installment sales, consumer credit, small loans\n\nand usury;\n\n(b) to provide rate ceilings to assure an adequate supply\n\nof credit to consumers;\n\n(c) to further consumer understanding of the terms of\n\ncredit transactions and to foster competition among\n\nsuppliers of consumer credit so that consumers may\n\nobtain credit at reasonable cost;\n\n(d) to protect consumer buyers, lessees, and borrowers\n\nagainst unfair practices by some suppliers of consumer\n\ncredit, having due regard for the interests of\n\nlegitimate and scrupulous creditors;\n\n(e) to permit and encourage the development of fair and\n\neconomically sound consumer credit practices;\n\n(f) to conform the regulation of consumer credit\n\ntransactions to the policies of the Federal Consumer\n\nCredit Protection Act; and\n\n(g) to make uniform the law including administrative rules\n\namong the various jurisdictions.\n\n(3) A reference to a requirement imposed by this act includes\n\nreference to a related rule of the Administrator adopted pursuant to\n\nthis act.","path":["OK Code","Title 14A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os14A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"d5b9c56eb657dc74801ef34ae7278f59774e2199a26de4da1bf3a0bf0327555e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-14a-14a-1-101","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-14a-14a-1-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
