Stat. tit. 15, § 15-1014","heading":"Construction of power relating to claims and litigation","body":"CONSTRUCTION OF POWER RELATING TO CLAIMS AND LITIGATION\n\nIn a statutory power of attorney, the language with respect to\n\nclaims and litigation empowers the agent to:\n\n1. Assert and prosecute before a court or administrative agency\n\na claim, a cause of action, counterclaim, offset, and defend against\n\nan individual, a legal entity, or government, including suits to\n\nrecover property or other thing of value, to recover damages\n\nsustained by the principal, to eliminate or modify tax liability, or\n\nto seek an injunction, specific performance, or other relief;\n\n2. Bring an action to determine adverse claims, intervene in\n\nlitigation, and act as amicus curiae;\n\n3. In connection with litigation, procure an attachment,\n\ngarnishment, libel, order of arrest, or other preliminary,\n\nprovisional, or intermediate relief and use an available procedure\n\nto effect or satisfy a judgment, order, or decree;\n\n4. In connection with litigation, perform any lawful act,\n\nincluding acceptance of tender, offer of judgment, admission of\n\nfacts, submission of a controversy on an agreed statement of facts,\n\nconsent to examination before trial, and binding the principal in\n\nlitigation;\n\n5. Submit to arbitration, settle, and propose or accept a\n\ncompromise with respect to a claim or litigation;\n\n6. Waive the issuance and service of process upon the\n\nprincipal, accept service of process, appear for the principal,\n\ndesignate persons upon whom process directed to the principal may be\n\nserved, execute and file or deliver stipulations on the principal's\n\nbehalf, verify pleadings, seek appellate review, procure and give\n\nsurety and indemnity bonds, contract and pay for the preparation and\n\nprinting of records and briefs, receive and execute and file or\n\ndeliver a consent, waiver, release, confession of judgment,\n\nsatisfaction of judgment, notice, agreement, or other instrument in\n\nconnection with the prosecution, settlement, or defense of a claim\n\nor litigation;\n\n7. Act for the principal with respect to bankruptcy or\n\ninsolvency proceedings, whether voluntary or involuntary, concerning\n\nthe principal or some other person, with respect to a reorganization\n\nproceeding, or a receivership or application for the appointment of\n\na receiver or trustee which affects an interest of the principal in\n\nproperty or other thing of value; and\n\n8.
