The Commission shall have general supervision over all\n\npublic utilities, with power to fix and establish rates and to\n\nprescribe and promulgate rules, requirements and regulations,\n\naffecting their services, operation, and the management and conduct\n\nof their business; shall inquire into the management of the business\n\nthereof, and the method in which same is conducted.\n\nB. 1. When any public utility subject to general supervision\n\npursuant to this section or to Section 158.27 of this title shall\n\nfile with the Commission a request for review of its rates and\n\ncharges, such request shall be given immediate attention.\n\n2. In the exercise of this responsibility, the Commission shall\n\ncomplete any examination of such request for a review of its rates\n\nand charges within one hundred twenty (120) days from the date such\n\napplication for review of its rates and charges is filed.\n\n3. Public hearings on such matter must commence within forty-\n\nfive (45) days of the end of such examination to be conducted by the\n\nCommission and in no event shall the conclusion of such examination\n\nof the rates and charges and the hearing conducted by the Commission\n\nexceed one hundred eighty (180) days from the date the request was\n\nfiled.\n\n4. If such request for review of the applicant's rates and\n\ncharges has not been completed and an order issued within one\n\nhundred eighty (180) days from the date of filing of such\n\napplication, some or all of the request for changes in the rates,\n\ncharges, and regulations made in such application shall be\n\nimmediately placed into effect and collected through new tariffs on\n\nan interim basis at the discretion of the applicant.\n\n5. Should the Commission determine upon the completion of its\n\nexamination and public hearings that a refund regarding the amount\n\nof interim relief is appropriate and necessary, the Commission shall\n\norder such refund including reasonable interest at the one-year U.S.\n\nTreasury bill rate accruing on that portion of the rate increase to\n\nbe refunded for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days from the\n\neffective date of the rate increase which is being refunded.\n\nC. The Commission shall have full visitorial and inquisitorial\n\npower to examine such public utilities, and keep informed as to\n\ntheir general conditions, their capitalization, rates, plants,\n\nequipments, apparatus, and other property owned, leased, controlled\n\nor operated, the value of same, the management, conduct, operation,\n\npractices and services; not only with respect to the adequacy,\n\nsecurity and accommodation afforded by their service, but also with\n\nrespect to their compliance with the provisions of this act, and\n\nwith the Constitution and laws of this state, and with the orders of\n\nthe Commission.","path":["OK Code","Title 17"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os17.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"1de6a275dac753941a7f2901d84e1533d6493cb7630a60c6046a5d3c787be6e9","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-17-17-151.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-17-17-153"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
