Stat. tit. 17, § 17-158.44","heading":"Furnishing of retail electricity continued","body":"Subject to the provisions of the Retail Electric Consumer Cost\n\nReduction, Safety and Service Efficiency Act, any retail electric\n\nsupplier shall be entitled to continue and extend the furnishing of\n\nelectricity, including the right to construct, maintain and operate\n\nelectric transmission and distribution lines and related facilities\n\nalong, upon, under and across all existing and future public\n\nthoroughfares in an area that has been or shall be included, as a\n\nresult of incorporation or annexation, within the boundaries of a\n\nmunicipality if the retail electric supplier was furnishing\n\nelectricity or was constructing or operating electric facilities in\n\nthe area prior to its incorporation or annexation without obtaining\n\nthe consent, franchise, license, permit or other authority of the\n\nmunicipality, subject, however, to compliance with the lawful safety\n\nrequirements of the municipality as to the matter of constructing\n\nand maintaining facilities along, upon, under and across\n\nthoroughfares. Provided that, if any such retail electric supplier\n\nis or has been operating under a franchise granted by the voters of\n\nthe municipality, upon expiration of such franchise, this section\n\nshall not be construed as a grant of a right to continue and extend\n\nthe furnishing of electricity within the boundaries of the\n\nmunicipality other than as granted with regard to the annexed area\n\nreferred to in this section.","path":["OK Code","Title 17"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os17.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e7f6a0530187b03ba292e04799eb101435f6403f96256bd5f72091bdb757f215","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-17-17-158.43","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-17-17-158.45"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
