Stat. tit. 17, § 17-3","heading":"Pleadings, trial, judgment and appeal","body":"\n\nIf the defendant shall fail to appear or file answer on the day\n\nmentioned in the citation, such failure to appear or file answer\n\nshall be deemed an admission of the truth of each and every material\n\nallegation in such affidavit, or information, and the Commission may\n\nrender judgment without further hearing or testimony; or the\n\nCommission may in its discretion require additional evidence before\n\nrendering judgment in any case of default. Upon the appearance and\n\nfiling of answer of the defendant, such appearance may be by plea,\n\ndemurrer or answer, and when the issue shall have been settled, the\n\nCommission may hear evidence as to the matters and facts in\n\nreference to the alleged violation of the order or requirement, and\n\nmay continue the hearing from time to time, and the defendant shall\n\nbe given ample opportunity to introduce proper evidence and be fully\n\nheard in the premises. Upon the conclusion of the evidence and\n\narguments of counsel, the Commission shall render judgment, a copy\n\nof which shall be delivered to the defendant, and the defendant\n\nshall have five (5) days from the receipt of copy of the judgment to\n\nfile its exceptions thereto, and shall be allowed to appeal from the\n\njudgment of the Commission, to the Supreme Court, as provided in\n\nother cases, upon its filing a bond with the Commission in double\n\nthe amount of such fine or judgment, with such security as may be\n\nrequired by the Commission.
