The Legislature declares that it is in the public interest\n\nto promote renewable energy development in order to best utilize the\n\nabundant natural resources found in this state.\n\nB. It is hereby declared the intent of the State of Oklahoma to\n\nincrease the use of renewable energy in the state by setting a\n\nrenewable energy standard that will serve as a goal to be reached by\n\nthe year 2015.\n\nC. There is hereby established a renewable energy standard for\n\nthe state that will serve as a goal for the year 2015. The\n\nrenewable energy standard shall be a goal that fifteen percent (15%)\n\nof all installed capacity of electricity generation within the state\n\nby the year 2015 be generated from renewable energy sources.\n\nD. For purposes of this section, qualifying renewable energy\n\nresources shall include:\n\n1. Wind;\n\n2. Solar;\n\n3. Photovoltaic;\n\n4. Hydropower;\n\n5. Hydrogen;\n\n6. Geothermal;\n\n7. Biomass, which projects may include agricultural crops,\n\nwastes, and residues, wood, animal and other degradable organic\n\nwastes, municipal solid waste, and landfill gas;\n\n8. Distributed generation from an eligible renewable energy\n\nresource where the generating facility or any integrated cluster of\n\nsuch facilities has an installed generating capacity of not more\n\nthan five (5) megawatts;\n\n9. Other renewable sources approved by the Commission; and\n\n10. Demand side management and energy efficiency as provided in\n\nSection 6 of this act.\n\nE. Steam export capacity at a qualified renewable energy\n\nresource shall count toward the goal established in subsection C of\n\nthis section.\n\nF. The annual renewable energy percentage shall be determined\n\nby dividing all installed capacity of renewable electricity\n\ngeneration in Oklahoma by the total installed capacity of all\n\nelectricity generation in Oklahoma. Every electricity generating\n\nentity or company operating electricity generation facilities in\n\nOklahoma shall report to the Commission by March 1 each year the\n\ninstalled capacity of each of its generating facilities, the number\n\nof kilowatt hours generated by each facility in Oklahoma and from\n\nwhich source of energy the electricity was produced.","path":["OK Code","Title 17"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os17.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"a2c90393a3e96ef02ad042a2feebd15cbba9c104d36c0aea737af695dc4b0fd0","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-17-17-801.3","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-17-17-801.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
