The Legislature declares that it is in the public interest\n\nto promote natural gas energy development in order to take advantage\n\nof our state’s vast natural gas resources and its compatibility with\n\nwind energy.\n\nB. It is further declared the intent of the Legislature to\n\npromote natural gas energy development in this state by establishing\n\na natural gas energy standard to increase the use of natural gas as\n\nan electricity generation fuel.\n\nC. There is hereby established a natural gas energy standard to\n\nsupplement the increased volume of renewable energy and to\n\ncapitalize on the state’s abundant natural gas resources. The\n\nnatural gas energy standard shall be achieved by declaring natural\n\ngas as the preferred choice of electric generation for new\n\ngenerating facilities in this state.\n\nD. It is the intent of the state that new generating facilities\n\nand added capacity to existing generating facilities built in this\n\nstate be powered by natural gas.
