Stat. tit. 18, § 18-441-111","heading":"Name","body":"NAME.\n\n(a) Use of the term “cooperative” or its abbreviation under the\n\nUniform Limited Cooperative Association Act of 2009 is not a\n\nviolation of the provisions restricting the use of the term under\n\nSection 435 of Title 18 of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\n(b) The name of a limited cooperative association must contain\n\nthe words “limited cooperative association” or “limited cooperative”\n\nor the abbreviation “L.C.A.” or “LCA”. “Limited” may be abbreviated\n\nas “Ltd.”. “Cooperative” may be abbreviated as “Co-op” or “Coop”.\n\n“Association” may be abbreviated as “Assoc.” or “Assn.” A limited\n\ncooperative association or a member may enforce the restrictions on\n\nthe use of the term “cooperative” under the Uniform Limited\n\nCooperative Association Act of 2009 and Section 435 of Title 18 of\n\nthe Oklahoma Statutes.\n\n(c) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (d) of this\n\nsection, a limited cooperative association may use only a name that\n\nis available. A name is available if it is distinguishable in the\n\nrecords of the Secretary of State from:\n\n(1) The name of any entity organized or authorized to transact\n\nbusiness in this state;\n\n(2) A name reserved under Section 12 of this act; and\n\n(3) An alternative name approved for a foreign cooperative\n\nauthorized to transact business in this state.\n\n(d) A limited cooperative association may apply to the\n\nSecretary of State for authorization to use a name that is not\n\navailable. The Secretary of State shall authorize use of the name\n\nif:\n\n(1) The person with ownership rights to use the name consents\n\nin a record to the use and applies in a form satisfactory to the\n\nSecretary of State to change the name used or reserved to a name\n\nthat is distinguishable upon the records of the Secretary of State\n\nfrom the name applied for; or\n\n(2) The applicant delivers to the Secretary of State a\n\ncertified copy of the final judgment of a court establishing the\n\napplicant’s right to use the name in this state.","path":["OK Code","Title 18"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os18.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"a53ab4e3243af5bc58b7ea6df1153244f6df62f10b63a28bd8e0c3768270494f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-18-18-441-1103","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-18-18-441-112"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
