Stat. tit. 18, § 18-601","heading":"Right of way - Use of public ground, streets and highways","body":"- Use of railroad property - Interstate highway system.\n\n(a) There is hereby granted to the owners of any telegraph or\n\ntelephone lines operated in this state the right-of-way over lands\n\nand real property in this state, and the right to use public\n\ngrounds, streets, alleys and highways in this state, subject to\n\ncontrol of the proper municipal authorities as to what grounds,\n\nstreets, alleys or highways said lines shall run over or across, and\n\nthe place the poles to support the wires are located; also the right\n\nto condemn and cross over or under, or build their lines along any\n\nrailroad property or right-of-way, subject to the necessary use of\n\nsuch property or right-of-way by the railroad company; the right-of-\n\nway over real property granted in this section may be acquired in\n\nthe same manner and by like proceedings as provided for railroad\n\ncorporations.\n\n(b) Provided, however, the State Highway Commission, in the\n\nexercise of reasonable discretion, may prevent the installation of\n\nsuch facilities upon limited access highways which are a part of the\n\nNational System of Interstate and Defense Highways, or such\n\nCommission may permit the installation of such facilities on such\n\nportion of Interstate and Defense Highways under such reasonable\n\nregulations as it may prescribe. Provided, further, nothing herein\n\ncontained shall affect the right of the owners of telephone and\n\ntelegraph lines to cross such Interstate and Defense Highways and to\n\nbuild their lines either aerial or underground along and upon any\n\nextension of said interstate and defense highways within urban areas\n\nin accordance with Federal Aid Regulations.","path":["OK Code","Title 18"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os18.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"190d88fe0d43dc26b5cba0cccd96f42d881378c8ba19d170600989338763278a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-18-18-595","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-18-18-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
